Praghosa began his spiritual quest in 1982 joining an
ashram and living as a brahmacari (student monk). After five years
he was administrating ISKCON temples himself, and soon was a key figure
in opening Healthy, Wealthy and Wise Vegetarian Restaurant in Belfast
and the Golden Avatar restaurant in Dublin. Praghosa, along with
his wife Goloka, founded Govinda's Vegetarian Restaurant on
Aungier Street in 1998. There are now three Govinda's in Dublin.
In 1999 Praghosa was requested to be a full
Governing Body Commissioner (GBC) of the International Society
for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), and continues in this
roll to this day. GBCs are a select group of men and women who
jointly govern the international spiritual society known as ISKCON.
Praghosa is the youngest member of the GBC and
only the second person who is not a direct disciple
of Srila Prabhupada (the Society's founder) ever to be
elected to this prestigious post. Praghosa serves currently as the
GBC for Ireland, the UK and the international headquarters of
ISKCON in Mayapur, West Bengal, India.
In general, his style of presentation is sharp,
witty and informative, as well as insightful and moving in
manner.
